Judges 13:24 And the woman bare a son, AND CALLED HIS NAME SAMSON: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him. [25] AND THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD BEGAN TO MOVE HIM AT TIMES in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
As the opening verses relate, this devotional talks about a most powerful man; Samson, who was endowed with great strength through the Holy Spirit.
Judges 14:1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and SAW A WOMAN in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. [2] And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. [3] Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? AND SAMSON SAID UNTO HIS FATHER, GET HER FOR ME; FOR SHE PLEASETH ME WELL. [4] But his father and his mother knew not that IT WAS OF THE LORD, THAT HE SOUGHT AN OCCASION AGAINST THE PHILISTINES: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
Samson married a woman following after his sight (SAW A WOMAN); but she was chosen and approved of God! It was a marriage arranged in heaven. And this is mostly the case, if we walk in His will! His life and exploits would have been excellent, had he not done the following extra-marital activities; idolizing the female members of the human race, indiscriminately.
And the following passage of scripture shows us the beginning of his downfall:
Judges 16:1,3 THEN WENT SAMSON TO GAZA, AND SAW THERE AN HARLOT, AND WENT IN UNTO HER. And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him. [3] And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
What Samson did in Gaza was transgressing “Thou shalt not commit adultery commandment” (Exodus 20:14). On the other-hand, what Samson did, proves the loving nature of our one true God as written in the following verse: The Lord…is long-suffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE. (2Peter 3:9)
Following his bouts with a prostitutes in Gaza, Samson again succumbed to his lust of the flesh (which I am sorry to say afflicts most of us). We know that he was supposed to be married with a woman of his desire and arranged according to God’s plan toward the Philistines. But his lust of the flesh got the the better of him:
Judges 16:4 And it came to pass after-ward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. [5] And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver. [6] And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
And Samson divulged the confidential physical sign of his strength; his hair! But, unfortunately, he took it for granted that his strength will stay no matter what he would do and did. And his “new” wife betrayed him in a big way:
Judges 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. AND HE AWOKE OUT OF HIS SLEEP, AND SAID, I WILL GO OUT AS AT OTHER TIMES BEFORE, AND SHAKE MYSELF. AND HE WIST NOT THAT THE LORD WAS DEPARTED FROM HIM.
And Samson thought it was business as usual; the God’s was still with him to rescue him! But HE DID NOT KNOW THAT THE LORD HAD DEPARTED FROM HIM!

Now let me change lane to the most powerful nation in the world, the United States of America. How this nation had slipped from the most powerful nation into a nation that WIST NOT THAT THE LORD WAS DEPARTED FROM her! Ichabod! God has been driven away from all aspects of governance and all institutions of the US of America. In the nutshell, God has been rendered as a non-being or there is No God!. WILL THERE BE A CIVIL WAR IN 2013?
There have been many talks and rumors of state’s seceding from the Union ever since the re-election of President Barrack Obama back in November 2012. There were numerous petitions on the White House website stating that the citizens of certain states wanted to secede. Many of these petitions garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures from registered voters. The attention was even made aware by the television media, and newspapers. But does this mean that there will be another American Civil War brewing in 2013?
I think that we first need to look at the 2 main factors for the American Civil War in the first place. Assuming that history repeats itself, one could draw a conclusion that if the same conditions that lead to the original conflict arose another one would be possible, if not immanent. While this article is not written with the intent of creating another Civil War, it is hard to deny that some of the same factors that created the first one may be leading to another one soon.

Romans 8:10-11 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. BUT IF THE SPIRIT OF HIM THAT RAISED UP JESUS FROM THE DEAD DWELL IN YOU, HE THAT RAISED UP CHRIST FROM THE DEAD SHALL ALSO QUICKEN YOUR MORTAL BODIES BY HIS SPIRIT THAT DWELLETH IN YOU.
To know if the Spirit of Christ is in you, the following will give you a checklist of the fruit of the Holy Spirit:
“…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. [Galatians 5:22-26]
