INDONESIAN CHRISTIANS PUBLICLY FLOGGED AND MOCKED OUTSIDE OF MUSLIM MOSQUE FOR VIOLATING SHARIA LAW

The two Indonesian Christians – Dahlan Silitonga, 61, and Tjia Nyuk Hwa, 45 – were whipped six and seven times respectively by a masked man wearing a robe, as a crowd of 300 ridiculed and took pictures of them outside a mosque in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh. The strict Islamic law punishment against the Christian man and woman comes as the predominantly Muslim country shifts to a more radical, politicized version of Islam, Reuters reported.

INDONESIA PUBLICLY CANED TWO CHRISTIANS IN A RARE CASE OF NON-MUSLIMS PUNISHED UNDER SHARIA LAW.

EDITOR’S NOTE: In any country where Islam is in power, Sharia Law is enacted on not only Muslims but on non-Muslims as well. The Qu’ran commands muslims to make non-muslims submit to its laws. Isn’t it interesting when Sharia punishment is dished out, the  people doing the whipping are dressed all in black with a hood over their heads? Kinda reminds me of the KKK who dress all in white also with hoods over the heads to hide their identity.

The pair – among five people punished – was accused of gambling. Police said they were playing a game at a children’s entertainment complex that lets users exchange coins for prizes or vouchers, including cash. They were beaten with a rattan stick, while another man involved with them got 19 lashes.

ANOTHER COUPLE WAS WHIPPED TWO DOZEN TIMES FOR SHOWING AFFECTION IN PUBLIC.

Banda Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that imposes sharia law since it was adopted in 2001 as part of a deal with the central government to end a long-running insurgency. The province has flogged its non-Muslim citizens for a range of offenses – from gambling to selling alcohol to having gay or extramarital sex.

“This is to create a deterrent effect, in order for people not to repeat violations of Islamic sharia law,” Banda Aceh’s mayor Aminullah Usman said. “We purposely do it in front of the public … so it won’t happen again.”

INDONESIA IS THE COUNTRY WITH THE LARGEST MUSLIM POPULATION IN THE WORLD.

Around 98% of Banda Aceh’s population are Muslims subject to sharia law, but the other portion, Christians and other non-Muslims, when accused of violating both national and religious laws can choose to be prosecuted under either system, often opting for a flogging to avoid a lengthy, costly court process and jail time.

In January, a Christian man was whipped 36 times for selling alcohol and recently the country came under fire after police arrested and publicly humiliated transgender people.

Last year, Indonesia jailed Christian governor, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, for blaspheming the Koran, prompting massive protests and pushback on the country’s stance as a bulwark of tolerance and pluralism in the Islamic world. source

“The UN Spends Half its Time on Israel, Other Half on Rest of World”: Nikki Haley

“For the nation or the kingdom That does not serve you shall perish; Such nations shall be destroyed.” Isaiah 60:12 (The Israel Bible™)

Following the United States’ withdrawal from one United Nations body last month, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that unless the Human Rights Council (UNHRC) reforms its Israel-bashing ways, the US will leave it as well.

Among the US’s demanded reforms is the removal of Item 7, a permanent agenda point requiring discussion of Israel’s actions in Judea and Samaria at every single UNHRC session. Item 7 is essentially a built-in forum for criticizing Israel.

The US also wants restrictions against major human rights abusers joining the council, Haley said, pointing to the recent addition of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The Human Rights Council will either adopt these reforms, or the United States will leave,” declared Haley on Saturday night.

Speaking at the annual Washington conference of the Israeli American Council, Haley was enthusiastically received by a community which increasingly sees her as the rehabilitator of Israel at the United Nations.

She said that the US would never again repeat the “betrayal” of the Obama administration, which during its last days in power abandoned Israel at the UN by allowing an anti-settlement resolution at the Security Council to pass.

“‘As long as I was US ambassador, such an act of betrayal would never happen again,’” she recalled thinking before she was confirmed in the position by the Trump administration.

Slamming the UN for unfairly focusing on Israel, Haley called its obsession “ridiculous.”

“It seems like the rough breakdown at the UN is half the time on Israel and half the time on the other 192 countries.”

Though Israel quickly followed suit when the US withdrew from the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) last month, the Jewish state, much vilified by various bodies within the international community, “remains committed to what can seem like a very lonely fight” for diplomatic influence and respect in the UN, praised Haley.

She added, “I’m here to let the world know that Israel is not alone.”

However, she continued, she is “cautiously optimistic” that the US is “chipping away at the anti-Israel culture” she found in the UN.

US Congress Slams Back at UN Israel Blacklist With Anti-Boycott Bill – Breaking Israel News | Latest News. Biblical Perspective.

“I will bless those who bless you And curse him that curses you; And all the families of the earth Shall bless themselves by you.” Genesis 12:3 (The Israel Bible™)

In response to United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) efforts to undermine Israel’s legitimacy through their Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Act of 2017, the U.S. Congress and Senate have introduced a bipartisan bill, the “Israel Anti-Boycott Act,” that would protect U.S. companies targeted by the international boycotts and punish those who comply with them.

Earlier this March, the UNHRC voted in favor (32 nations in favor and 15 abstentions) of the BDS Act of 2017, which entails creating a “blacklist” of companies enabling or benefitting from the growth of Israeli settlements. Blacklisted companies under the BDS Act of 2017, the full list of which will be published this December, include major American corporations like Coca-Cola, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Airbnb, and TripAdvisor.

The UN blacklist treads in the footsteps of the broader BDS movement, which was established in 2005 in an attempt to economically undermine Israel’s sovereignty. The stated goal of the BDS movement, according to its founders, is to “end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law.”

In response to the UN’s blacklist, Representative Peter J. Roskam (R-IL) and Senators Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (H.R. 1697 and S.720). The US Act has seen overwhelming support, with 49 senators and 253 House members co-sponsoring it  to date. The bill was initiated in the context of a strong U.S.-Israel alliance celebrating the U.S. government’s proud history of protecting the Jewish State from economic warfare.

The U.S. Israel Anti-Boycott Act would bolster the 40-year-old American policy of challenging boycotts against its allies and highlight U.S. support for Israel as its strongest ally in the Middle East. In the past, Congress has successfully tackled foreign boycotts against Israel. In 2015, former U.S. President Barack Obama passed the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), which instructed American negotiators to take an anti-BDS position in ongoing free trade negotiations with the EU.

The Israel Anti-Boycott Act also underscores the importance of direct talks between the Israelis and Palestinians, as the unilateral adoption of the UN blacklist could further destabilize any attempts to bring Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiations for direct peace negotiations.

In practice, the pro-Israel bill would apply existing U.S. anti-boycott laws to international organizations like the UN and European Union, which often single out American companies doing business in Judea and Samaria, hoping to pressure them into boycotting Israel.

Nikki Haley, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, criticized the United Nations support for the BDS Act of 2017, saying, “Blacklisting companies without even looking at their employment practices or their contributions to local empowerment, but rather based entirely on their location in areas of conflict, is contrary to the laws of international trade and to any reasonable definition of human rights.

“It is an attempt to provide an international stamp of approval to the anti-Semitic BDS movement. It must be rejected.”

Many consider the BDS movement to be anti-Semitic because it holds Israel, as the sole Jewish state, to a different standard than other countries. While human rights violations run rampant in Syria, North Korea, Yemen, Russia, Sudan, and Iran, the UN singles out Israel as the greatest violator of health rights, Palestinian sites, women’s rights, Middle Eastern peace, and human rights.

Israeli ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Eviatar Manor, calls the HRC “obsessive compulsive” on Israel, as the international organization lambasts Israel while it overlooks abuses against millions worldwide.

Economic warfare against Israel is not new for the UNHRC. This past spring, the UNHCR voted on 41 resolutions, 12 of which dealt with human rights violations around the world, and five of which were focused on Israel. One of the resolutions passed mandated a boycott of Israeli settlements and called upon members to “distinguish, in their relevant dealings, between the territory of the State of Israel and the territories occupied since 1967.”

If American companies were to comply with the UN’s BDS Act of 2017 by boycotting firms on the blacklist, they could risk harming Israelis, Palestinians, and even their own domestic economy. In 2015, over 500 Palestinian workers were left unemployed after the SodaStream factory was relocated from the West Bank to southern Israel because of pressure from the BDS movement.

Last year, Israel was the United States’ 22nd largest trade partner, trading over $40 billion annually. According to Aaron Menenbeg of The Tower, out of the twenty countries with which the U.S. has trade agreements, Israel is the eighth-largest supporter of American jobs and Israeli exports generate the highest amount of export dollars per job. If American companies were to adopt the UN blacklist, the robust U.S.-Israel economic ties would be risked, undermining the American economy at large.

If the Israel Anti-Boycott Act passes in the U.S. Senate and House, it will then be sent to the U.S. president to be enacted into law.

President Trump Calls Emergency Meeting To Formulate ‘Measured Response’ To North Korea ICBM Missile Launch • Now The End Begins

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later confirmed the latest missile test was with an intercontinental ballistic missile. And Tillerson says that’s a new escalation of the threat posed to the United States and the world by North Korea.  The US has also requested a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council on North Korea’s latest missile launch, a spokesman for the US mission to the United Nations says.

President Donald Trump called an emergency meeting on the Fourth of July to formulate a ‘measured response’ to North Korea’s first intercontinental ballistic missile test, amid fears it could reach as far as Alaska.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The United States today confirmed that North Korea did in fact successfully test launch an inter-continental ballistic missile Monday night, a missile that is absolutely of reaching any part of Alaska. Today, President Trump called for an emergency meeting to discuss what the official US response is going to be. Something tells me that it’s not going to be more sanctions.

North Korea declared Tuesday that it had finally achieved its dream of building an intercontinental ballistic missile, saying it would ‘fundamentally put an end to the US nuclear war threat and blackmail’.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later confirmed the latest missile test was with an intercontinental ballistic missile. And Tillerson says that’s a new escalation of the threat posed to the United States and the world by North Korea.

The launch, which came as the United States prepared to mark its Independence Day, triggered a Twitter outburst from Trump who urged China to ‘put a heavy move’ on North Korea to ‘end this nonsense once and for all’.

US military and national security officials are now holding the unexpected meeting to determine if leader Kim Jong-un’s claim his country fired an intercontinental missile is true, Trump administration sources told CNN.

The US has also requested a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council on North Korea’s latest missile launch, a spokesman for the US mission to the United Nations says.

The spokesman said the meeting of the 15-member council was likely to be scheduled for Wednesday.

If data and intelligence proves the ICBM was launched, officials say Trump would potentially approve a ‘measured response’ to deal with North Korea. Potential responses include sending additional troops to the region and possibly more sanctions.

North Korea has long sought to build a rocket capable of delivering an atomic warhead to the United States – something Trump has vowed ‘won’t happen’.

In an announcement of the missile test, North Korean officials called the launch, which leader Kim Jong-un supervised, a ‘glistening miracle’.

The Hwasong-14 ICBM reached an altitude of about 1,741 miles (2,802 kilometres) and flew 579 miles (933 kilometres) for 39 minutes before hitting a target area on the sea off the east coast, according to North Korea.

Washington, Japan and South Korea gave similar figures, and US experts said the trajectory implied the device could reach Alaska.

North Korea is subject to multiple sets of United Nations sanctions over its atomic and missile programs, which it says it needs to protect itself against a possible invasion. It regularly issues bloodcurdling threats against its ‘imperialist enemy’ Washington, and has long sought a rocket capable of delivering a warhead to the continental United States.

Russia and China joined diplomatic forces on Tuesday and called on North Korea, South Korea and the US to sign up to a Chinese de-escalation plan designed to defuse tensions around Pyongyang’s missile program.

The plan would see North Korea suspend its ballistic missile program and the US and South Korea simultaneously call a moratorium on large-scale missile exercises, both moves aimed at paving the way for multilateral talks.

The initiative was set out in a joint statement from the Russian and Chinese foreign ministries issued shortly after President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held wide-ranging talks in the Kremlin.

Russia and China both share a land border with North Korea and have been involved in past efforts to try to calm tensions between Pyongyang and the West.

Moscow and Beijing used the same joint declaration to call on Washington to immediately halt deployment of its THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea, a move Washington says is necessitated by the North Korean missile threat.

North Korea’s missile launch on Tuesday prompted control specialist Jeffrey Lewis to respond on Twitter: ‘That’s it. It’s an ICBM. An ICBM that can hit Anchorage not San Francisco, but still.’

David Wright, of the Union of Concerned Scientists, wrote on the organisation’s allthingsnuclear blog that the available figures implied the missile ‘could reach a maximum range of roughly 6,700 km on a standard trajectory’.

‘That range would not be enough to reach the lower 48 states or the large islands of Hawaii, but would allow it to reach all of Alaska.’ source

The sad episode that began the Vatican pro-life academy’s decline | Opinion | LifeSite

March 14, 2017 (ALL) — In 2008 when Bishop Elio Sgreccia resigned from the presidency of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Archbishop Rino Fisichella to assume that position.

Fisichella began his tenure with what, in hindsight, can only be defined as an agenda of changing attitudes on abortion and other matters. In retrospect, I find it comical that, as the archbishop moved into his role as an agent of change in the Academy, so too Barack Obama was positioned to do the same as president of the United States.

Of course when Fisichella took over the helm of the Academy, nobody could have predicted what was in store. But it did not take long for the tide to turn.

In March 2009, Archbishop Jose Cardoso Sobrinho of Brazil excommunicated the mother and all members of a medical team involved in the abortion of twins being carried by the woman’s daughter. The young girl had been impregnated after being raped, and the abortion was seen as an act of compassion for the child and her babies. Archbishop Sobrinho took his stand in defense of life saying that “the law of God is above all human law” and that abortion is “homicide against innocent life.”

Fisichella publicly disagreed with the archbishop’s decision…
