[Isaiah 17:1-14] The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

[2] The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

Note: Aroer [ruins] A town on the north bank of the Arnon ( Deuteronomy 4:48 ; Judges 11:26 ; 2 Kings 10:33 ), the southern boundary of the kingdom of Sihon ( Joshua 12:2 ). It is now called Arair, 13 miles west of the Dead Sea.

One of the towns built by the tribe of Gad ( Numbers 32:34 ) “before Rabbah” ( Joshua 13:25 ), the Ammonite capital. It was famous in the history of Jephthah ( Judges 11:33 ) and of David ( 2 Samuel 24:5 ). (Compare Isaiah 17:2 ; 2 Kings 15:29 .)

A city in the south of Judah, 12 miles south-east of Beersheba, to which David sent presents after recovering the spoil from the Amalekites at Ziklag ( 1 Samuel 30:26 1 Samuel 30:28 ). It was the native city of two of David’s warriors ( 1 Chronicles 11:44 ). It is now called Ar’arah.

[Isaiah 17:3-4] The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. [4] And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

Note: The bible prophesies that Ephraim; a part of the land of Israel will also lay in ruins as the city of Damascus.

The boundaries of the portion of the land assigned to Ephraim are given in Joshua 16:1-10. It included most of what was afterwards called Samaria as distinguished from Judea and Galilee. It thus lay in the centre of all traffic, from north to south, and from Jordan to the sea, and was about 55 miles long and 30 broad.

“…they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.” The glory of the people of Israel shall also disappear.

Why? Because they trust the Antichrist and will put their hope in him, instead of the Son of God, Yeshua ha Masiach!

[Isaiah 17:5-6] And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. [6] Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.

Note: What God is saying here is the establishment of the rule of harvest; as shown in the following verses:

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest… When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands. [Deuteronomy 24:19; Leviticus 19:9].

The rule of harvest, in the biblical end time sense, talks about “a remnant” of people of Israel in the land. For the land will be overrun by nations led by Antichrist. Read about: ANOTHER HOLOCAUST PREDICTED!

[Isaiah 17:7-11] At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. [8] And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images. [9] In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. [10] Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: [11] In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

Note: [Zechariah 13:8-9] And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. [9] AND I WILL BRING THE THIRD PART THROUGH THE FIRE, AND WILL REFINE THEM AS SILVER IS REFINED, AND WILL TRY THEM AS GOLD IS TRIED: THEY SHALL CALL ON MY NAME, AND I WILL HEAR THEM: I WILL SAY, IT IS MY PEOPLE: AND THEY SHALL SAY, THE LORD IS MY GOD.

[Isaiah 17:12-13] Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! [13] THE NATIONS SHALL RUSH LIKE THE RUSHING OF MANY WATERS: BUT GOD SHALL REBUKE THEM, AND THEY SHALL FLEE FAR OFF, AND SHALL BE CHASED AS THE CHAFF OF THE MOUNTAINS BEFORE THE WIND, AND LIKE A ROLLING THING BEFORE THE WHIRLWIND. [14] And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

In case you do not yet have a bible, here are verses of Psalms 83 in its entirety:

[Psalms 83:1-18] A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. [2] For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. [3] They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. [4] They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. [5] For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: [6] The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; [7] Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; [8] Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. [9] Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: [10] Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. [11] Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna: [12] Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. [13] O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. [14] As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; [15] So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. [16] Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. [17] Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: [18] That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Israel attacks Damascus

The following video is presented here for its PICTORIAL content. I do not know what is being said by the up-loader “Ugarit News” who introduced the video recorder as “An activist sends a message from the Syrian Capital.”

Published on November 9, 2012

An activist sends a message from the Syrian Capital. The footage is from the devastated neighborhood of Tdamoun, whole blocks appear to have been flattened completely. Smoke, due to shelling can ask be seen in the background.

You have been shown how God proves the truth of His Word, time and forever. He shows us the “End” from the “Beginning.” Aren’t you amazed at the Almighty God?

Do you know or have you heard or better still, are you a believer in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? He is closing the book on this sinful world. Because of His loving nature, He wants to reduce the number of human beings from perishing, not the other way around. It is said that “THE LORD IS NOT SLACK CONCERNING HIS PROMISE, AS SOME MEN COUNT SLACKNESS; BUT IS LONG SUFFERING TO US-WARD, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE.” [2 Peter 3:9]

Do you think the time we are living in right now no different than it was thirty, twenty or even ten years ago? Think again, and think real hard.
